The Pickle Chronicles

Grillos Classic Dill Spears

3.6 out of 5

A decent pickle with good crunch! The spears are all very uniform and consistent so you wont find a hodgepodge of different shapes and sizes. The plastic container they come in is hard to open (and close) and it should be opened over a sink.  I can’t stress this enough… You know how when you purchase a ginormous bag of chips and you open it and find that 1/47th of the bag actually has chips in it so you have to go elbow deep in the fresh bag of chips just to get a handful? It’s nothing like that.  If you get all Willy Nilly and open this on a counter or heaven forbid go rouge and open this thing mid air in your hands, it’s going to be a huge mess. Picture a filled swimming pool on a cruise ship that just crashed into an iceberg. It’s not just packed to the top with pickles, it’s filled to the absolute top with brine.  There will be Dill and brine everywhere.  Maybe you don’t clean it all up and someone slips and then you could be looking at a pretty nasty lawsuit with a sizable settlement that you’ll probably have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay.  You don’t want that, so just keep it over the sink.  There is IMO an over abundance of dill weeds in the container. I don’t want to eat it and you could literally be picking it off each pickle all day.  Less dill, and maybe move to a standard jar or something.. it’s just unsafe.  I’d eat them again… but maybe open them in a bath tub so nobody gets hurt.
